To the Wonderful Mothers of the Magnificent Mid-Atlantic:
Eight years ago when I became a member of J&J, I in good faith, pledged to devote myself to the welfare of the organization as a whole. Through these years, I established meaningful and lasting bonds of friendship and worked alongside dedicated moms on activities that have impacted our communities. Jack and Jill Moms, I stand before you as a humble community servant. I am confident, poised and ready to represent our magnificent Region into the next phase of growth.
My vision as Regional Director is to lead by example, collaborate with our current and past national officers, and with all of you as the leader of our region. Together our Region will continue to be a leader in constructive growth, creating, giving and cultivating a better tomorrow for our children.
This years Regional Theme is “Building Bridges Today for a Better Tomorrow”. The Teen Theme, as voted on at the Teen Conference, is “Bringing Back: The Music, The Art and Traditions”. Today’s world is complex and evolving. It is critical that as mothers we do what we can to provide our children, our families, and our communities with the nurturing they need. By planting the proper seeds, we will reap generations that represent opportunities for constructive growth and measurable success.
I have a caring and concerned nature and a commitment to excellence. As your Regional Director, I will embody the essence of those qualities necessary to cultivate a better tomorrow for our children and each of our mothers.
Jack and Jill Moms, I am ready to keep my sleeves rolled up and work side by side with you to continue our vision of growth, giving and cultivation.
The first sixty days has been very overwhelming and busy with:
-
Transitioning
-
Locating sites for clusters
-
Reviewing information for teen conference
-
Answering and responding to e-mails and phone calls along with having unexpected knee surgery. (I have survived).
-
Planning Cluster workday
-
Planning Children’s Cluster
-
Working with Interest Groups
I would like to introduce you to our newly appointed Regional Secretary Treasurer, Demetra McKie. Demetra is from the Greenville, SC Chapter. She has an extensive background in Accounting.
Machelle Thompson is from the Columbia, SC Chapter. She is the new Program Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Further, she will represent the region on the National Program committee.
Paulette Motley from the Raleigh-Wake Chapter will serve as Regional Teen Advisor.
This year a few changes will occur such as the clusters being moved to the fall. The Cluster Schedule is as follows:
-
NC Cluster is October 20, 2007 and will be hosted by the Raleigh- Wake Chapter.
-
SC Cluster is November 3, 2007 and will be hosted by the Orangeburg Chapter.
-
VA Cluster is November 10, 2007 and will be hosted by the Portsmouth Chapter.
As voted on at the Mother’s Conference, the registration fee will be $50.00 and an additional fee for any late registration. Host Chapters are working very hard to make the Cluster event enjoyable. I hope to see your pretty faces there.
Thank you for your support, hard work and commitment. Keep up the good work and lets continue to move the Magnificent Mid-Atlantic forward. Remember, “Let’s Work, Let’s Play, Let Live Together”!
Sincerely,
Allison L. Copeland
