Dear Ladies of the Magnificent Mid-Atlantic Region:
As we began our year, I wish to thank you again for giving me the opportunity to serve you as your Mid-Atlantic MAL Officer. It has been a pleasure working with you. Thanks for the lovely gifts presented to me at our National Convention.
For the next year, I hope to encourage you to embrace our National Team. Remember our focus is to empower our youth to excel through leadership and service in our communities. Let us continue to work together to enrich, enhance, and improve the lives of our children. Also, let us strive to recruit new members in our organization to share in our vision of parents who strongly believe in shared values of integrity, respect, honesty, good citizenship, teamwork and commitment.
The foundation started this year with a grant writing fund-raising workshop held in Wilmington, NC on September 9th, 2006. The presenter was Melissa L. Lindler, with highlighted topics on research, corporations, government, and foundation funding opportunities, identifying the difference between government, foundation, and corporation proposals, and understanding the essential components of a grant proposal package. Special view points on problem statements, needs assessments, goals and objectives, evaluations, and attachments were also presented.
I hope all who attended found the workshop informative and interesting, and will be able to use the information and techniques in networking with other members in successful grant writing. I strongly urge
you to write grants this year as it provides an opportunity to tell our story through grant writing to our community leaders and organizations.
